We are not living in the best times to embark on a trip, but there is always Madrid, the place where I was born and the place where I now live… Odd picture, but this place is Madrid…
Costa de Marfil y Gambia / Ivory Coast and Gambia
Ya en mi apacible refugio del sur de España, con la misma inquietud que todos… Parece que ha pasado una eternidad, pero hace tan solo unos días que las fronteras africanas se cerraban a mi paso… Ha sido un año intenso, agridulce tras este final inesperado, pero maravilloso en su conjunto. Sólo hay un camino, hacia adelante… Podría escribir muchas líneas sobre cómo encontré el mundo 25 años después, tal vez merezca un libro, no lo sé…
Already in my peaceful refuge in the south of Spain, with the same concern as everyone else… It seems like an eternity has passed, but only a few days ago the African borders were closing in front of me… It has been an intense year, bittersweet after this ending, but wonderful as a whole. There is only one way, forward… I could write many lines about how I found the world 25 years later, maybe it deserves a book, I don’t know…
Madagascar
Desde un lugar remoto de África, espero el vuelo que me lleve de vuelta ¿A casa? Estoy terminando el viaje y ya no disfruto de la libertad, al ver a tantos seres queridos encerrados… No esperaba que mi periplo africano terminara así, creo que estamos viviendo un momento crítico en la historia y tendremos que adaptarnos; posiblemente el mundo a partir de ahora no sea el mismo, otra vuelta de tuerca… Os mando fotos de mi penúltima etapa, Madagascar, un salto al mar, la singularidad, un sueño de la infancia. De Ifaty a Antananarivo, un país de contrastes abruptos y de naturaleza singular, única… Con mis publicaciones y fotos espero aportar un poco de frescura al claustro diario y espero veros pronto ¡Ánimo!
From a remote spot in Africa, I wait for the flight to take me back… Home? I am ending my trip; I do not enjoy freedom seeing so many loved ones in lockdown… I did not expect my African journey to end like this, but I think we are living a critical moment in the world and we will have to adapt; possibly the world will not be the same from now on, another turn of the screw… I send you photos of my penultimate stage, Madagascar, a jump into the sea, the singularity, a childhood dream. From Ifaty to Antananarivo, a country of abrupt contrasts and singular, unique nature… I hope to bring some freshness to the daily lockdown and I hope to see you soon, cheers!
Johannesburg
Días en Sudáfrica, emociones encontradas. Ya no sigo hacia el sur, es hora de emprender la vuelta a España, mi país! Ahora tal vez comience mi verdadera aventura, no sé si terminaré varado en algún aeropuerto africano. Cuando el virus llegue aquí, quizá sea el caos; muchas personas aún no han oído ni hablar de él. Precauciones todas, temor ninguno: no les daré ese gusto. Puedes vivir con la enfermedad, pero no puedes vivir con miedo. ¡Fortaleza a todos!
Days in South Africa, mixed emotions. I do not continue south anymore, it is time to start the return to Spain, my country! Now maybe my real adventure begins, I do not know if I will end up stranded in some African airport. When the virus arrives here, it might be chaos, many people have not even heard of it yet. Always precautions never fear: I will not give them that pleasure. You can live with the disease, but you cannot live in fear. Strength to everybody!
Lesotho
Lesoto, un descubrimiento en la ruta. Un país montañoso, sin salida al mar, dentro de Sudáfrica. Su punto más bajo a 1400m de altura, gente sencilla y paisajes impresionantes. Un paraíso para senderistas. Lesotho, unexpected discovery. A mountain country, landlocked in South Africa. Its lowest point at 1400m high, simple people and breathtaking landscapes. A paradise for hikers.
