Desierto, mar y tren… Ruta de 10 días / Desert, sea and train… 10-day route
Desde el aeropuerto internacional de Nouakchott, nos dirigimos al hotel y pasamos la primera noche en la capital del país. Al día siguiente por la mañana, visitamos el mercado de camellos cercano a la ciudad, recorremos el centro y, por la tarde, disfrutamos de la experiencia del puerto pesquero, donde al atardecer, las coloridas embarcaciones artesanales regresan a la playa cargadas de pescado fresco.
From Nouakchott international airport, we go to the hotel and spend the first night in the country’s capital. The next day in the morning will visit the camel market near the city, will explore the center, and in the afternoon will enjoy the experience of the fishing port, where at sunset, the colorful artisanal boats return to the beach loaded with fresh fish.
El tercer día vamos en vehículos 4×4 hasta el oasis de Terjit, donde almorzamos y paseamos por sus desfiladeros y por el peculiar huerto que esconde su enorme palmeral. Más tarde, el mismo día, nos dirigimos a la ciudad de Chinguetti, en medio del desierto, una maravilla medieval “siempre amenazada” por las dunas de arena que la rodean. Chinquetti, conocida como “la Sorbona del Sahara” por sus antiguas bibliotecas, será el campo base para explorar la zona de Adrar, la joya de Mauritania. Desde allí conoceremos el entorno: las dunas cercanas a Tanouchert, la ciudad fortaleza de Ouadane y el famoso Ojo de África, durante el cuarto y quinto día de viaje.
On the third day, we head in 4×4 vehicles to the oasis of Terjit, where we have lunch and walk through its gorges and through the unusual orchard that hides its enormous palm grove. Later the same day we go to the city of Chinguetti, in the middle of the desert, a medieval wonder always threatened by the sand dunes that surround it. Chinquetti, known as “the Sorbonne of the Sahara” for its ancient libraries, will be the base camp to explore the Adrar area, the jewel of Mauritania. From there we will get to know the surroundings: the dunes near Tanouchert, the fortress city of Ouadane and the famous Eye of Africa, during the fourth and fifth days of the trip.
El sexto día nos levantamos temprano para dirigirnos hacia la segunda roca monolítica más grande del mundo, Ben Amira, y su hermana pequeña, Aisha. Desde allí continuamos hasta la ciudad minera de Zouerate, en el norte del país.
On the sixth day, we get up early and head towards the second largest monolithic rock in the world, Ben Amira, and its little sister, Aisha. From there we continue to the mining city of Zouerate, in the north of the country.
El séptimo día es el de la aventura única: el tren de hierro. Tras conseguir los suministros necesarios, comienza la aventura a bordo del tren más largo del mundo, de 3 km de longitud, en un vagón cargado de grava o mineral de hierro. Una tarde y una noche por el gran desierto del Sahara, con el único techo del cielo estrellado hasta la ciudad de Nouadhibou, a orillas del Océano Atlántico, después de haber recorrido los 700 km de la gloria.
The seventh day is the one of the unique adventure: the iron train. After getting the necessary supplies, the adventure begins aboard the longest train in the world, 3 km long, on a wagon loaded with gravel or iron ore. An afternoon and a night through the great Sahara desert, with the only roof of the starry sky until the city of Nouadhibou, on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, after having traveled the 700 km of glory.
Una ducha caliente nos reconforta a la llegada al hotel. Ese día, el octavo, descansamos y visitamos la reserva de Cap Blanc, intentando avistar la foca monje, una especie en peligro de extinción.
A hot shower comforts us in the city hotel on arrival. That day, the eighth, we rest and visit the Cap Blanc reserve, trying to spot the monk seal, an endangered species.
El noveno es el día en que completamos el círculo a Nouakchott, parando en el camino en el Parque Nacional Banc D’Arguin, un área de primer nivel para divisar aves migratorias. Pasamos la última noche en la capital.
El décimo día es el de regreso a casa, en el que disponemos de unas horas en la ciudad antes de trasladarnos al aeropuerto, dependiendo de la hora de salida del vuelo. ¿Más información?
The ninth is the day when we complete the circle to Nouakchott, stopping at the Banc D’Arguin National Park on the way, a world-class area for migratory birds. We spend the last night at the capital.
The tenth day is the day to return home, in which we have a few hours in the city before moving to the airport, depending on the departure time of the flight. More info?
